Keto is a word we have all been hearing about a lot when it comes weight loss. In a sentence, the keto diet or lifestyle is a term for a low-carb diet (like the Atkins diet). The idea is for you to get more calories from protein and fat and less from carbohydrates. You cut back most on the carbs that are easy to digest, like sugar, soda, pastries, and white bread. But for Jennifer Jonkman, it’s her vehicle for helping people regain control of their life in Kitimat, British Columbia.
She’s done the Keto diet herself, personally and has lost over 50lbs by doing so (and her clientele has lost over 7000lbs collectively). I think we can all agree, her before and after photo speaks for itself. Other benefits she’s received from doing Keto is depression symptoms noticeably reduced, her clothes fit better, she has more energy and ultimately a better feeling overall.
Jenn launched Hale Holistics back in June of 2018 for clients but was doing it for herself long before it was a service to the community of Kitimat. After all, if you want to walk the walk, you better be able to talk the talk. She is a leader by example of her product and loves helping people navigate through a 90 day program to jump start their bodies state of “ketosis”. She offers a wide variety of services depending on where you are in your journey – but the most important thing is no matter where you are, she’ll support you. Her full scope of services can be found at:
If you’re a skeptic about the keto diet, don’t worry, Jenn was too. You can read about her skepticism on her website too (www.haleholistics.com/about/). If you’ve ever met Jenn before, you KNOW she’s opinionated but she’s passionate and dedicated to her craft of helping people through the keto world. But she won’t be your cup of tea (or bulletproof coffee) if you suffer from “excusitis” or don’t like people telling you how it is. What you will get with her is honesty and guidance to succeed – and just like anything in this life, if you want it bad enough, you’ll work hard for it.
When I met with Jenn in her office for this interview she asked me via text how I liked my coffee. I told her “Delicious with some version of cream and sweet”. She delivered. Not only a delicious bulletproof coffee but keto chocolate to boot. And it was delicious. If you didn’t know it keto before hand, you wouldn’t have known it was keto at all.
I think my favourite part of her website is that page that is devoted to her recipes. I will note, you should try to refrain from looking at it when you’re hungry! You can give some of the recipes a whirl before committing to the program with dishes like, “keto tandoori chicken” or “keto fat-head pizza dough”. If you were worried about missing out on sweets, you really don’t have to worry. Her menu includes delicious desserts like, “keto chocolate mug cake” or “keto vegan breakfast brownies”.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m probably going to take stock of what’s in her recipe section and test a few out on our own family. I have never done Keto personally, but I think I could with the help of Jenn. She is so passionate about what she does and it shows. And for that, we love her.
